apologies and a prize
Sorry to have been so long without posting, or even explaining my absence but I got labyrinthitis. I know, I know, what the hell is it and why the weird name ? It is basically an inner ear thing that means your balance goes all screwy....right now I feel like I am gently rocking, as if I were on a yacht in St.Lucia. Kind of. Well it seems to be clearing up a bit but one of the side effects has been that I really didn't like looking at a computer screen for too long. But now I am back and here is the long promised prize....
Here it is, two quilted place mats, matching reversible coasters and not one but TWO needle felted mushroom centerpieces. It is a mushroomy world of goodness waiting to be delivered to one lucky winner. And I think it would be a perfect Valentines Day table setting, so very red and polka dotty.
All you need to do is leave a comment, names in a hat and I'll announce the winner on Tuesday morning.
Good luck and I'll be back to posting more regularly (including the book from the last post) just as soon as the damn room stops spinning.

That's not a good thing to have, but at least the name of it sounds interesting. Hope it clears up soon.
Beautiful little mushrooms along with such sweet coordinating table linens. :-)

Oooo, my husband had that inner ear thing, or something similar. They had to put him on a tilt table to fix it. Very weird. Hope you're feeling better now.
I'd love to win those adorable mushrooms and placemat sets!

Super cute! We have a special fondness for mushrooms in our house.
Hope you are well soon.

You are far more industrious than I. I was sick all last week and I still haven't managed to make a blog post, let alone a giveaway prize! I hope you feel better soon!
Posted by: Sarah | January 24, 2008 at 09:02 PM
Those are cute mushrooms! And I love the placemats!
I like to make placemats myself, but I hate it when I'm running late on a gift--there's more perimeter in relation to surface area with a set of placemats than with a lap quilt, so much more binding to sew on!
Posted by: mikawendy | January 24, 2008 at 09:09 PM
Wow, I've never heard of that sort of inflammation. Beautiful fabric and quilting! Beautiful prize :-)

Okay, for this I'm coming out of lurking. Those are gorgeous and I spent a semester in Moscow, so I'm all about the matryoshki.
My neighbor had labyrinthitis last year and she had to spend a week in bed staring at the ceiling (otherwise she got sick) and lost 50% of the hearing in one ear, permanently. So I'm really, really glad you're feeling better.
Posted by: Melissa | January 24, 2008 at 11:01 PM
Yikes! Labrynthitis sounds absolutely awful. But also yikes, because the set is so very cute and cheerful. I'm glad you're feeling better and just looking at your work cheers me.

I hope you feel better soon.
I would love to be entered into that fantastic draw - wow!

I've had ear troubles my whole life, never heard of labyrinthitis though. I can definitly sympathise with your pain though! I rembember how surprised I was after my first ear surgery... I didn't realize how much pain and discomfort could come from SUCH a small area!
I've found a product called Gwei-Hua Balm that helps me a lot. It's from E Excel International and is marketed for sore muscles, but is also GREAT for headaches, sinuses, ear aches, coughs, congestion... I just always have a little tub of it in my pocket, because it helps with so many things! When my ear hurts, I rub a little on the side of my head, just outside the ear and behind the ear, and somehow it radiates into the middle.
Gwei-Hua Balm... definitly worth trying! It's not available in stores, but you can try to get it locally (from a distributor) or onlne. If you have trouble locating a source, let me know and I can help you get some.
I just realized that this sounds like an ad. I just meant to sympathise with your pain and let you know that I found this product that works wonders for my ears and for so many other things!
Speedy healing!
