hedgehog not porcupine
My latest triumph in baking. (There are few and far between). Hedgehog cookies made using a reproduction cookie mold. I am not normally the kind to have the patience for this sort of endeavor but something about the chaos of the last few weeks made me feel like I wanted some calm, quiet time doing a repetitive task.
Here they are en masse before going into the oven. No shots of after they were baked because we ate them all too quickly, but I can report that they retained their shape well. Mercifully the cookie mold came with a recipe for springerle cookies.
Here is the actually cookie press which I bought from Blueberry Forest. They had tons of them, I loved this one and this one. They are made by House on the Hill and if you go to their site they have hundreds of them plus lots more goodies.
And what to with the left over cookie dough .....

Wow! How sweet! I love hedgehogs. These remind me of Jan Brets book "The Mitten." One of my favorites.

LOL, my third comment in a row, why haven't I been to your blog before? These cookies are so fantastic. And I am off to add you to my bloglines list.
